Ctrl + Alt + F2 on Linux switches to second virtual terminal tty2 ( if you lose graphics it's because they are usually available on terminal 7 or 1 so use Ctrl + Alt + F7/F1 to get them back

Usually there are 63 virtual terminals, 12 of whom are easily accessible through ctrl + alt + FXX
